Current research
My PhD project is funded by the White Rose BBSRC DTP in Mechanistic Biology and looks at the surface interactions between bacteriophage and their hosts, focussing on a set of Sheffield isolated phage and their antimicrobial resistant Enterococcus hosts. Through the combined use of phenotypic investigation, electron microscopy, variant sequencing, and enzyme assay we will investigate the structures and events that happen at the cell surface during phage infection. This project is supervised by Graham Stafford, and co-supervised by Professor Per Bullough (University of Sheffield) and Dr Stephan Mesnage (University of Sheffield).
